I think the Palais performance on 27/May/21010 was my 3rd PFE concert and even better that the first two! In fact so good that even after 3 months it’s still important for me to send my thanks to everyone in the PFE for a superb night’s entertainment.

Without shame I admit the Floyd are my favorite band. The first album I ever purchased was Dark Side of the Moon, while I was in high school. If you enjoy Pink Floyd’s music do not miss a chance to go to a PFE performance! Do NOT be put off by thoughts of “cover band” or “tribute band”. Do you think folks stepping out for an evening at the Berliner Philharmoniker think to themselves “oh, they’re only a Beethoven tribute band!” ? From either you get great music played by talented and passionate musicians – what more could you ask?

p.s. Thanks to Andrew Haysom for the set list – I think they played “Another Brick …” too.
p.p.s Did y’all ever publish the final rankings from the web site voting?

The concert at the Palais on May 27 was spectacular. My friends and I loved the concert so much, we were wondering whether there will be another concert in Melbourne this year. We would love to go again. Please arrange for another concert in Melbourne real soon. We will definitely be there.

Guys i wont rave on i’m just going to say The Brisbane show was truely AWSOME. The one and only thing I didnt enjoy was the flashing strobe light. Other than that the light show was just spectacular only next time I will have a few joints before the show.

    Well done your an inspiration.

Saw the Sat night show at the Enmore – absolutely brilliant. The music, the sound, the lighting, the showmanship were all spot on. I was lucky enough to see the real Pink Floyd when they were last in Sydney many years ago and they were awesome. Obviously we will never be able to see the real Pink Floyd ever again, so go and see the Pink Floyd Experience – the next best thing.
I have been to see them several times now over the last few years and I will continue to do so every time they come to Australia (would love to see them do The Wall again!)
If you love PF music then make sure you go and see this band – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

i came out of the theatre feeling euphoric and satisfied . next time they come to melbourne i will be there again.

I saw the Melbourne show, and I loved it. (I didn’t get that nostalgic, I am only in my early teens) You did a really good job, especially the keyboardist, you emulated the synths and samples really well. I thought that during the intro to Echoes, that keyboard bit was a little loud, but apart from that, the show was amazing.

I bought tickets for the Melbourne show months ago for my husband’s 60th thinking .. well it may not be the real thing but its a nostalgic night out….WOW !! It was so much more than I expected. The sounds and sights were wonderful and I really enjoyed hearing early Floyd that I have overlooked… I’m cracking out the vinyls! Thank you for the experience – we will be back!!

I saw the 3 hour plus Melbourne show last night and it was outstanding. Full length versions of Echoes, Dogs and Sheep (Pigs didn’t fly this time) and the entire DSOTM. Very talented and professional musicians playing with a passion for getting it right. Being a Gilmour fan I was particularly impressed with lead guitarist Daz and his Black Strat. Probably the only thing lacking (and this is being picky) was a pedal steel guitarist. Overall a great choice of songs and a memorable night that I’ll want to relive when they return to Melbourne again. Well done Pink Floyd Experience!

  11. May 28, 2010 at 7:48 am | Permalink

Being such a huge Pink Floyd fan, I went to the gig in Melbourne last night expecting to be a little disappointed, because no one can really do Floyd justice, right? Wrong. Very wrong. This New Zealand outfit are just superb. To call it a tribute show really doesn’t do it justice. They are a bunch of superbly talented musicians, obviously very passionate about Pink Floyd’s music and they put on a truly superb show. Rick (bless his soul), Nick, Roger and Dave would have been very proud of the show last night, and I enjoyed it immensely. Pink Floyd’s music has always evoked a very emotional response in me, and last night was no different – it was, as the name suggests, a Pink Floyd Experience.

    The show started at 8pm and with a short intermission went until well after 11pm. The set list included a few oldies, some that I’ve not played for so long, but now remember how much I love (I’m sure that a few old Floyd albums will be pulled out over coming weeks), and the second half included the entire Dark Side of tthe Moon album. Here’s the set list (as best as I can remember, forgive me if I’ve forgotten a track);

    Welcome to the Machine
    Dogs
    Echoes
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
    Arnold Layne
    Astronomy Domine
    Keep Talking
    Sheep

    Shine On You Crazy Diamond
    Learning to Fly
    Speak To Me
    Breathe
    On The Run
    Time
The Great Gig In The Sky
    Money
    Us and Them
    Any Colour You Like
    Brain Damage
    Eclipse
    Wish You Were Here
    Run Like Hell
    Comfortably Numb

I guess of the original Floyd, it is David Gilmour who is the “heart” of the band, especially in recent years. It was doubt over whether The Pink Floyd Experience could do his vocals and especially his guitar justice that had me expecting to be disappointed. However, front man and lead vocalist Stan Gratkowski was excellent, and lead guitarist Darren Whittaker nailed every single song perfectly. The three female singers in the band also did a superb job with the very demanding vocals in The Great Gig In The Sky – well done ladies.

The lighting and visuals were excellent also. I really couldn’t recommend this more highly, and will be going back to see them next time they are in town. Hurry back!

I think I might go get out my Animals CD!

I first saw the PFE in about 2004 in Canberra, where some daggy colleagues called them Punk Floyd in appreciation of their Kiwi origins.

We were very impressed then, with the show comprising two parts, Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall. Dark Side was sensational and Stan Gratkowski was a revelation as the lead singer and central character in The Wall. My other memory from the Canberra show was Daz Whittaker, who has the Floyd lead guitar work down to a fine art. I just saw the PFE in Brisbane, and I was once again immersed in the sight, sound and feel of the Floyd. There is nothing like listening live to the lyrics, music and amazing soundscapes associated with PF.

We Aussies do have our own Pink Floyd show, called The Australian Pink Floyd Show, http://www.aussiefloyd.com/, and they are superb. Unfortunately, they moved to the UK in about 1993 and have not been seen since … unless you’ve been lucky enough to catch them in the UK, Europe, North America or South America. So that said, I am one Aussie who is very happy to have a quality show like the PFE downunder here in Oz. Do yourself a favour and go and see them.

    Long live The Floyd.

saw PFE at the Enmore on sat – absolutely brilliant! The sound was remarkable, so like the real thing and great to hear songs from the whole history of Floyd. The girls voices during Great gig in the sky blew me away completely and I suspect the saxophonist must have had a man backstage working a set of bellows to play like that. Incredible. Come back soon, and when you do I’ll be there front row centre.

WOW!!!! Finally got to see PFE at the Enmore on Friday 21st May and will now be looking to see when these guys are touring again to book my seat.

To Stan, Daz, Glen, Ken, Rob, Roger, Stephanie, Wini and the other stellar female vocalist (who’s name I missed on the night) thankyou for the talent, professionalism and commitment to exellence that made this a truly great experience.

Although not ever able to see them live, I now know what it is like to be mesmerised by Pink Floyd in a concert and they say …’Always leave them wanting more’ – could I ask that next time you add in ‘On the Turning Away’ because that was about the only Pink Floyd ‘classic’ for mine that missed the set….

But hey, even in a 3 hour show, something’s going to miss out when you look at the breadth of quality music that they produce.

Do yourself a favour – If you thought about it ut haven’t booked yet, just DO IT!

Did a 800 km round trip on the weekend to see the Sydney Show – was worth every kilometre. Captured the songs perfectly, the musicians really know their material. Phenomenal to see Echoes and Keep Talking performed perfectly – plus the whole of Dark Side of the Moon – especially Great Gig in the Sky (great work girls). The staging and lighting are first class. I took my son and some friends to see the PFE show on Friday 21st May 2010 at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Having seen the band perform when they last came to Sydney, I was concerned that they wouldn’t be able to repeat that sensational performance. I am pleased to report that they started off with two of my favourites ‘Machine’ and ‘Pigs’ and the show just got better and better. They were brilliant!

Having grown up in the UK and been involved in the music scene in the 70s and 80s, I was fortunate to have seen Pink Floyd on several occassions. From the very early ‘Emily’ days to seeing them perform The Wall on two consecutive nights at Earls Court in 1981, just before I moved to Oz. I know from first hand experience, how good Pink Floyd were / are.

I stongly recommend that if you have never seen Pink Floyd or also saw them many years ago, to go and see Pink Floyd Experience while they are stiil in town. This is a show not to be missed!

The sound was very loud and powerful. The keyboard player was exactly like Rick Wright. The drummer had very powerful skill. The three female singers were Very Very Good. The bass player took on Roger Waters. The lead singer was extremely great!. But what really blew me away was the electric Guitarist, he was amazing (i think he beats david gilmour). It really was a great show. It carries on the Pink floyd legacy. Keep up the spectacular work.

Felt The Experience last time they were in Adelaide. Really wasn’t too sure about going, as a mega Floyd fan and a bit of a purist I thought I would be disappointed. Even wasn’t sure about seeing Roger Waters (as a big Gilmour fan) but, wow, that was awesome. However back to The Experience, what an experience it was!! From the very beginning; the appropriate In the Flesh. If they were sent along as a surrogate band to find out where the fans really stand……well, it’s right behind these guys, they were excellent. Musically breathtaking and the showmanship was icing on the cake. I can’t wait to see these guys again. The sound was familiar yet new.
